Word from the first one

As you may recall my very first entry on this blog (see "The first one goes out today") I was applying for my dream job. And this was also the real purpose of starting this particular blog, to detail my job search and the trials and tribulations of finishing up my doctoral program.

The dream job that I actually applied for was a combination of a number of available positions at the same institution where they had a series of needs, X number of available positions now with more coming in the Fall, and they encouraged applicants who could fill more than one hole.

Well, it appears that one of the holes that I was able to fill was filled by someone else and the other positions that I was a potential candidate for have been taken off the table for now and will be re-advertized again in the Fall. So the door isn't completely shut, just closed for a semester or two, which I think is a good thing for me, as it will allow me to get another semester or two (and the requirements that come with it) under my belt. It will also bring me a semester or two closer to being ABD and closer to convocation. So, that's a positive thing.

So, as I begin the process of getting ready for comprehensive examinations this summer, I'll try and keep you updated on here as much as possible.
